Terms of service

Last updated 25 July 2026

You must be at least 18 years old to use a SmileScale preview or submit an inquiry.

1. Provider and acceptance

SmileScale is provided by Lead Media AS, organization number 927 101 513, Sinsenveien 53E, 0585 Oslo, Norway. These terms apply when you access or use SmileScale, including a preview embedded on a dental practice website.

Dental practices that subscribe to SmileScale also agree to the commercial terms shown during signup and Stripe checkout. If a signed agreement says something different, that agreement controls for the conflicting point.

An invited complimentary pilot may require separate pilot and data processing agreements plus authenticated acknowledgment of the current in-product document versions. The in-product record supplements and does not replace signatures required by those separate agreements.

2. What the service does

SmileScale lets participating dental practices offer an illustrative whitening preview and receive inquiries from interested adults. Practices can view stored leads and manage supported widget settings in their account.

The standard Whitening preview changes tooth color locally in your browser. Your photo is not uploaded for this local preview. A separately labeled AI smile makeover preview may be available only when a practice enables it and you make a separate affirmative choice and consent to the stated image processing.

3. Illustrative results only

A SmileScale preview is a visualization, not dental or medical advice. It is not a diagnosis, examination, treatment plan, clinical simulation, or guarantee that whitening is appropriate or that a particular result can be achieved. A qualified dental professional must assess suitability, risks, and expected outcomes.

4. Your inquiry and the practice

When you submit an inquiry, the selected dental practice receives it so the practice can contact you by phone or email about that whitening inquiry. The request may support follow-up while the inquiry or resulting customer conversation remains active, but it does not put you on an unrelated marketing list. Any separate choice to receive future promotional email may be withdrawn at any time. Lead Media AS does not provide dental care, set the practice's prices, make appointments on the practice's behalf unless explicitly stated, or control the treatment relationship. Any care or purchase is agreed directly between you and the practice.

You must provide information you are entitled to share and that is reasonably accurate. Do not submit another person's image or contact details without their permission.

5. Practice customer responsibilities

  • Use SmileScale only for the subscribing practice and authorized website origins.
  • Provide accurate practice, contact, offer, and booking information.
  • Handle leads lawfully, respond to data-rights requests, and give any additional notices required for the practice's own use. Practices must record and honor promotional-email withdrawals and must not treat an inquiry-only lead as permission for unrelated promotional email. A withdrawal stops promotional use; it does not require the practice to erase lawful inquiry, suppression, or non-identifying conversion history.
  • Keep account credentials and embed tokens secure and promptly report suspected unauthorized access.
  • Avoid clinical claims, guaranteed outcomes, or use involving anyone known to be under 18.

6. Fees, renewal, and cancellation

Practice subscriptions are month-to-month for one location unless checkout or a signed agreement states otherwise. Prices, currency, applicable taxes, and the billing interval are shown before payment. Stripe processes subscription payments. Subscriptions renew until canceled through the billing portal or another stated method.

Cancellation stops future renewal and access may continue until the end of the paid billing period. Amounts already paid are not refunded except where required by law or expressly agreed in writing. Failed or overdue payment may suspend paid features.

7. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • Use SmileScale unlawfully, deceptively, or to cause harm.
  • Probe, bypass, overload, reverse engineer, or interfere with security, access, origin, or rate-limit controls.
  • Upload content you do not have permission to process, or content containing malware or unlawful material.
  • Present a preview as a clinical result, a guaranteed outcome, or professional advice.
  • Resell or sublicense the service without written permission.

8. Availability and changes

SmileScale may depend on third-party hosting, authentication, payment, email, and infrastructure services. Lead Media AS works to keep the service available but does not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. Maintenance, security incidents, provider failures, or beta and pilot changes may temporarily affect features.

Lead Media AS may update the service or these terms for legal, security, operational, or product reasons. Material changes will be communicated through a reasonable channel. Continued use after an effective update means the updated terms apply, subject to mandatory rights.

9. Intellectual property

Lead Media AS and its licensors retain rights in SmileScale, including its software, design, branding, and documentation. The subscription gives a practice a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service during the paid term for its own location. You retain rights in content you lawfully provide and grant the limited rights needed to process it for the requested service.

10. Privacy

The SmileScale privacy notice explains how personal data, lead retention, local image processing, and optional AI processing are handled.

11. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. To the extent permitted by law, Lead Media AS is not liable for dental decisions, treatment outcomes, agreements with a dental practice, indirect loss, lost profit, or loss caused by unauthorized or prohibited use. For a practice customer, aggregate liability relating to the service is limited to fees paid for the service in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim.

12. Suspension and termination

Lead Media AS may suspend or terminate access when reasonably needed to address non-payment, unlawful use, a security risk, material breach, or harm to the service or others. Where practical, the practice will receive notice and an opportunity to correct the issue. Provisions that by their nature should continue after termination remain in effect.

13. Law and contact

These terms are governed by Norwegian law. Disputes are subject to the courts of Oslo, Norway, unless mandatory law gives you the right to use another forum. Mandatory consumer and data-protection rights are not limited by these terms.
